Yom Ha'atzmaut, Israeli Independence Day (5/1)
Yom Ha'atzmaut, Israeli Independence Day, marks the establishment of the modern state of Israel in 1948. On May 14, 1948, soon-to-be Prime Minister David Ben-Gurion issued a declaration of the State of Israel, which was soon recognized by the United States, the Soviet Union and many other countries.
Please join us this Friday, May 13, for a special evening of solidarity, spirituality, fun, song, probably some dancing and (of course) food as we celebrate Yom Ha'atzmaut, Israeli Independence Day -- RTPV style!
We invite you to gather with us for this joyous occasion.
We look forward to seeing you at our temple starting at 8:00 pm (dancing shoes optional). Guests are welcome!

Sukkot is called “the season of our joy,” Z’man Simchateinu. Being free, feeling joy, takes courage. It is a risk to walk through your fear and experience life. Summer Special Services (7/30)
The following week, July 23rd, the Sisterhood of the Reform Temple of Putnam Valley will be leading the Shabbat service and they have invited Pastor Tony Mecca of the Grace United Methodist Church as their special guest. Pastor Mecca has graciously agreed to give the sermon that evening and it promises to be an interesting and enlightening event.
On Friday, July 30th, Ed and Roni Rodman will lead our service and Pastor Mecca has agreed to say a few words then as well (what can we say -- he likes us. What's not to like?)
We ask that you join us as we welcome Pastor Mecca into our house of worship, as he has so often welcomed us into his.
We look forward to seeing you all there.

"Dancing With the Jews"
Led by Rabbi Darnov, please join us at the Reform Temple of Putnam Valley this Friday, October 9th, for Simchat Torah.
You’ve heard him sing, you’ve seen him play guitar, you’ve survived his jokes and now witness the event of the year: the Dancing Rabbi!
Simchat Torah means "Rejoicing in the Torah." This holiday marks the completion of the annual cycle of weekly Torah readings. Simchat Torah is the time that we finish reading the Torah and then proceed immediately to the first chapter of Genesis, reminding us that the Torah is a circle, and never ends. This completion of the readings is a time of great celebration.
Join us on Friday evening, October 9th, for this wonderful evening with family, friends and fellow congregants as we celebrate the holiday of Simchat Torah with laughter, with song, with dance and with much joy.
(And unlike Dancing With the Stars, we don’t judge anyone, so feel free to let it all hang out.)

Fresh from a summer hiatus traversing Turnpikes and Parkways, Rabbi Darnov returns to the rolling hills of Putnam Valley refreshed, rejuvenated, re-energized and ready to welcome in an exciting New Year at the Reform Temple of Putnam Valley.
Please join us this coming Friday evening, August 28th, as we welcome back Rabbi Darnov.
This Friday night's service will not be a pot-luck Oneg. The Oneg will be hosted by the Levinson family.
